Guidelines for submissions

Please read these guidelines completely before you submit a book, manuscript, galley, e-book, audio CD or DVD for review. Then use the link below to go to the submissions form. But, before you read these guidelines, please visit our Review Services page.

• We prefer items be available on amazon.com along with cover image and description. We will accept items that are not on amazon, however, please see below for items not listed on Amazon.com.
• We will consider reviewing print books, manuscripts, galleys, audio CDs and DVDs. E-books will only be reviewed if they are part of a Basic Publicity package and no print book is available. We do not accept pdf or other e-mail versions of hard copy items unless the publication is an e-book only.
• Due to the overwhelming submissions of adult publications we receive, title must be copyrighted within 2011 and 2012 or have a future pub date in 2013 (for manuscripts and galleys.) If you are re-publishing with a current date we will consider reviewing the title. Please indicate new publish date in the comments section of the submission form. We may consider earlier publications if an Basic Publicity package is purchased.
• There is no guarantee we will review your title. If your publication is accepted for review it will go on the Pending List. It will stay on this list for three months or until a reviewers orders it for review. Once 3 months has elapsed the publication will be taken off the list. If a reviewer orders the publication to review, it will be taken off the Pending List and put on the Coming Soon List.
• We do not review graphic pornographic material, racist themes, or textbooks. We will consider reviewing erotica. GLBT is accepted.
• We do not review childrens/teens books. Please go to Reader Views Kids to have your book reviewed by a child/teen.
• We only review items in the English language.
• All items sent for review become the property of the reviewer from RebeccasReads. Your publication will not be returned.
• Galleys and manuscripts will be considered but suggest using Basic Publicity so that you have a review before publication date.
• If your manuscript is accepted please be sure it is spiral bound or held together with fasteners. Please do not send a box of loose sheets to the reviewer
• If you have an e-book you would like reviewed, please note we will only consider reviewing it if you use the Basic Publicity service and if there is no hard copy of the same book.
• Our reviewers are avid readers, who are volunteers, that give personal opinions of what they read. Please consider them as your reading audience. We cannot guarantee a favorable review, however, we can guarantee a review where the reviewer gives his or her own honest and fair assessment of your work. Please do not ask us not to post a review if you don't like it; we believe in freedom of speech and it would be unethical of us to tell the reviewer their opinion isn't accepted. If you don't want an honest review, please don't ask for one.
• The tear sheet of your review will be sent to you from RebeccasReads in pdf.  Please do not ask the reviewer to send the review directly to you. Doing so may cancel your review.
• Do not contact the reviewers regarding referrals to publishers/agents or any other publishing or reviewing concerns. Doing so may void your review. If you have any questions please contact RebeccasReads.
• Please do not contact us asking if the reviewer received your book. We highly recommend that you receive a tracking number from the service you use to send the book to the reviewer. This way you will know if and when your book is received.
• It can take up to 90 days, or more in some cases, from the receipt of your submission until the review is posted.
• Due to the increasing volume of titles we have for review we strongly suggest that you consider Basic Publicity.

What do you get?

• A review and a tear sheet will be provided. You can use the review in whole or excerpts with credit given to the reviewer and RebeccasReads.
• A review posted on RebeccasReads.com indefinitely.

Items not listed on Amazon

• There is a $10.00 advertising fee for each book, audio CD, or DVD that is not listed on Amazon. The fee covers linking to the author's storefront. You are not purchasing a review, nor does paying the fee guarantee a good review. If you have more than one book, or you have an e-book, please contact us for special provisions.
• Payment must be made at the time the title is sent to the reviewer. Do not send it before. You only pay if your item will be reviewed. Payment may be made through PayPal or check/money order here.
• Advertising fee will cover lifetime listing of the title on RebeccasReads. The listing will only be removed when you ask to have it removed.
• A link will be created from the review on RebeccasReads.com to storefront for the item.
• If you choose to do Basic Publicity , your advertising fee will be waived.

How to submit for a review

Ready to ask for review? Go to the submission form for an expedited review or a review package. Fill out the form and submit it. That starts the process.
Please send an email to admin@rebeccasreads.com to let us know you if you sent in a submission form; that way it's less likely to get lost in our bulk mail.

When mailing your publication to us, please purchase a tracking number if you are wanting to know if we received your book or not. Please do not email us to confirm receipt. We do not have the staff or time to check for you.

Note: Be sure to include your email address! We will not consider a book for a free review if we have no email address to contact you.

What happens after you submit for a review

If it's an expedited review or a review package, we will be in constant contact with you. If you mail in your publication, check the Pending list to see if was accepted for review.

What else do I need to know?

• Interested but can't afford the publicity package right now? Ask about our payment plan. Please don't let budget challenges delay the publicity of your book. We are here to help you! We can easily come up with a payment plan.
• We do not charge for reviews. Our reviewers are not paid to review books and receive the book for free with no obligation to provide a review.
• We do not post reviews on Amazon.com because we, along with hundreds of other reviewers, bloggers, and individuals, have been banned from posting reviews on their site. You are able to post an excerpt of the review, with credit going to Rebecca's Reads, under Editorial Reviews through your Author Central account.
