Daniel K. Segall’s book “It’s My Story & I’m Stuck To It” is quite a unique memoir.   Segall’s profession for most of his life has been as a “part owner and operator of gentleman’s clubs.”  As soon as I read that statement on the first page, I knew that this book was going to be out of the ordinary.

I found the events of the author’s life to be incredibly entertaining.  The author starts out by comparing his life to that of a cat, most particularly referencing the part about a cat having nine lives.  He has already had many close brushes with death, which he chronicles for us in the first half of the book.

One of the most harrowing of Segall’s experiences is detailed in “Life #4.”  He and his wife take a trip to Negril, Jamaica and their bad luck starts right after leaving the airport when they are in a car accident.  The medical care that follows is extremely frightening and makes me never want to seek medical attention in another country.  I don’t want to give away the details, but trust me, you will find the story to be quite scary!

In the second part of the memoir, Segall presents his solutions to different problems in today’s society.  He addresses everything from taxation to bathrooms.  I found his ideas to be interesting, and in a number of cases very creative.  I found the most engaging section to be the one entitled, “”My Controversial views and Ideas.”  While I don’t agree with a lot of his solutions, such as legalizing all “recreational drugs, such as marijuana, and cocaine,” I did find his proposals to be very thought provoking.

“It’s My Story & I’m Stuck To It” is most likely a memoir unlike any that you have ever read.  Whether you agree with the author’s life choices or not, I think that you will find his story to be engaging and one that you will remember for a very long time.
