reviewsBut Then Again I Could Be Wrong: The Book of Rants
Jim Rising This book is a very random collection of all kinds of “rants” about personal experiences, news stories, and other mundane activities, most of which are presented in a comical way, making the reader chuckle a little and realize how ridiculous is the world that we live in. The author is a local radio station’s Program Director and host, who loves to talk and ramble about random life situations. Each rant is either one or two pages long; making it a very quick read that does not get tiring. Most of the rants are quite funny and enjoyable, but some have serious and inspiring messages. This variety creates even more appeal to the reader. Reading each rant, you can totally imagine it being said on FM radio, while commuting to work in the morning. I would greatly suggest an audio book version, which one can enjoy, while driving or doing some other mindless task. It is very entertaining to read about Jim’s experiences. The way he describes them is priceless. Jim is able to grab the reader’s attention, make you laugh, and think about your own similar experiences. While reading, I have also found that in order to appreciate the book the most, you need to be in the right mindset and mood, which involves being giggly and open to criticism in a satirical way. Overall, this book is not stand-up comedy. Don’t expect to laugh your pants off. But it is funny and a great way to entertain yourself, especially when you are tired of watching Comedy Central all day, and wish to work your mind little bit harder (reading is more challenging than staring at a TV screen), while not wanting to stretch your mind too much with reading classics like Tolstoy, for example. I would recommend this book to everyone who is open-minded, wishes to be entertained, and is ready to have a good laugh or two. .: Blog |
