Persistent Objector and Customary International Law

Charles Quince

Reviewed by Melissa Koltes for RebeccasReads (10/10)

The average person may have never heard the term Persistent Objector or know much (if anything) about international laws.  This book will eliminate that ignorance.  For those without a background in Latin the first few chapters may be a bit tough, only because some of the names/words are historic and hard to pronounce.  But if you can manage to grasp the concepts presented the book is fascinating.

From the historical explanations of how customary international laws (that are still in practice today) came to be through court cases that the reader may be familiar with; the author breaks everything down.  Charles Qunice's explanations are very easy to understand and do not intimidate the reader into putting the book down.

As the reader progresses, they can understand how all the parts fit together to create a system that can withstand most of the world’s believes, norms, etc.  International law is amazingly difficult but with this book, it is no longer a topic only attorneys and international business people can understand.
