Control Your Cash: Making Money Make Sense

In the opening pages of “Control Your Cash: Making Money Make Sense,” authors Greg  McFarlane and Betty Kincaid tell us that their book is not one of those popular “get rich quick” kind of books.  You won’t be taught how to become a millionaire or be able to retire before your kids enter school.  Their book, however, will provide you with a financial education.

“This book simply teaches- and teaches simply- the fundamentals of finance.  How to save, what it means to invest, and how to hold on to your own wealth and maintain your earnings when your friends and coworkers are setting themselves up for lives of paycheck-to-paycheck servitude.   We’ll break down the stock market in detail and make it easy to understand.  Easier, at any rate.  We’ll also demystify the process of buying a house, buying a car, and doing your taxes.  This book assumes that while you’re inquisitive, no financial jargon is familiar to you.  We promise to define every term.” (p. viii)

The last two sentences of the above paragraph are what make this book unique!  The entire book is written in a language that the average layperson can read and comprehend.   I think that the timing of this book is wonderful.  Because of the downturn in the economy many people have to try to control their finances in ways they hadn’t had to think of before.   “Control Your Cash: Making Money Make Sense “will help you to do that in a simple, straight-forward manner.    The authors present a plethora of sound advice and I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about finance.
