Red Flag Warning

This book throws you into the lives of fire fighters right from the beginning.  The reader gets a sense of their closeness, their struggles, personal demons, and their triumphs.  You also get to be inside the head of a serial arsonist; their thoughts and motives, right along with their psychosis.

I felt as though I knew each character the author presented.  Far too often, writers introduce a character and abandon them leaving the reader to wonder what ever happened to them.  This is not the case with "Red Flag Warning."  Kurt Kamm makes sure that the characters are real, the reader knows who they are, and in the end what happens to them.  I love a book that makes sure to tie everything up.

The reader will have a hard time figuring out who the culprit is till the very end of the book.  I was surprised by the ending and ate it up.  It was wonderfully deceptive in the twists and turns that the reader is taken on.  There is a continual, “well maybe it’s the Priest” or “Maybe it’s another fire fighter”.  So many options are given yet at no point does the reader feel overwhelmed with the possible suspects.

This book is enthralling, exciting, and suspenseful.  All the things a great book should be are neatly packaged together here.
