Keyed In

Stefania
Publish America (2009)

Reviewed by Danelle Drake for Rebecca's Reads (07/09)

“The sum shimmered through the window as the birds sand amongst a breeze; carrying chirping sounds of Spring to welcome the warm moment of a new day.”  This opening paragraph to “Keyed In” by Stefania had me anxious to read what fallowed.  A few pages in I felt as if I had lost the story so I put the book down only to regain my interest a few days later.  As I reopened the book on a quiet overcast day while sitting on the beach alone I began again.  The fantasy unfurled and I began to absorb each page.

Sara Atkins has had a very offensive year.  She was at the brink of “happily ever after” only to have the moment literally crushed as her new fiancé fell inside the same frozen river he proposed on only moments earlier.  The simple coffee shops Sara runs must operate without her as Sara goes thru some difficult times.  She really is unaware of what is happening around her and when she does begin to realize these reincarnations of the past she is really only wanting Shane back.  I cannot imagine the emotional state one must delve thru during trying times.  With raw emotion we travel with Sara as she encounters other worlds, other beings, and fights thru other realms to save herself.

“Sara, felt a surge of energy coming over her entire body.  She no longer felt deaden inside.  Everything felt real again, and the summer sun evolved to another day.” As the opening paragraph had me intrigued this closing paragraph from Stefania had me feeling joyful for Sara and her newfound strength.

Sometimes you don’t have to understand each page of a book – it is only upon your completion of the final paragraph that you finally get it.  Although difficult to read, “Keyed In” by Stefania will entertain you if you just open your mind – absorb the wordiness and go with it.
