reviewsFinal Target
Steven Gore Private investigator Graham Gage, becomes embroiled in international intrigue as he sets out to discover who assaulted his best friend Jack Burch, a well-known international attorney, in what initially appears to be a “road rage” attack. As Jack lies in bed, comatose, fighting for his life, he is becoming the central target of prosecutors ready to indict him for involvement in a stock swindle of failing SatTek industries. The accident soon begins to smell of some sort of conspiracy to hide the facts. Graham finds himself acting in blind faith as an advocate for his friend who is incapable of defending himself. As the plot unfolds, we slowly see Graham expand his search beyond US soil to London, Geneva and the Ukraine as he becomes involved with the international political black market of defense contracting and money laundering and their global impact. He becomes exposed to many characters driven by greed: some who have no reality check and some who have no moral sensibilities. They are desperate and dangerous. The depth of the friendship and trust between Jack and Graham enriches the story as it humanizes these characters through their back stories. The brotherly connection personalizes the quest making it less like a superhero-like mission. Steven Gore, the author, has had a long career doing firsthand of what he writes, investigating crimes in back alleys around the world. His personal expertise provides the reader with believable descriptions of the gritty underworld, creating a fascinating look into global financing and arms trafficking. Hopefully this thriller, a debut novel, will be the first in many to follow.
