This book is a complete guide to mentoring, outlining ways to be the most effective mentor in the current world. The author was lucky enough to have a brilliant mentor, who helped her in a multitude of ways. And now, she is eager to share information to help others in becoming life-altering mentors. For those of us, who were ever in the same shoes – had a mentor, who made a tremendous positive difference on our lives, the book makes us realize once again how helpful that mentorship was, and how sometimes we may have taken such relationship for granted or did not quite realize that some events were its direct and indirect outcomes.

The text is essential to all leaders in every workplace. No matter which field one is in, there is always an opportunity and a need for mentoring, especially, if the job deals with kids or adolescents. For children and young adults, mentoring can be a necessity, making them reach their goals quicker. For example, many new employees have trouble fitting in at first or are not familiar with the untold rules of the workplace; a mentor, someone, who has been working at that place for a couple of years, can make this adjustment much smoother.

" Inspire, Connect, Empower: How to Reach Across Cultural Differences and Make a Difference " has many specific chapters and sections, which include everything one needs to learn to become a better mentor. Every section includes a wonderful quote and has a short success story of applying that particular aspect. The stories are very inspiring and make the lessons more personal and alive. The reader can tell that each advice and lesson is not made up, but is actually based on something substantial. Following the short story, the reasons for importance are described, and then specific and detailed strategies are presented in a very clear and precise manner.

Overall, the book is an enjoyable read, not dry, full of interesting examples and stories, and most importantly, guidelines and advice. This is a must read for current mentors and mentors-in-training, and useful for everyone else, who may end up becoming a mentor after finishing "Inspire, Connect, Empower: How to Reach Across Cultural Differences and Make a Difference " by Anne Chan.
