Sidney Sheldon...the name spelt magic for a generation of readers (and authors) worldwide. Bestselling authors like Dan Brown and James Patterson are quick to admit their respect and admiration as well as the fact that they have been inspired to write after reading Sheldon novels. Following Mr. Sheldon’s death in early 2007, the Sheldon Estate zeroed on to author Ms. Tilly Bagshawe to continue with the Sidney Sheldon legacy. Bagshawe, who until then had written only romantic blockbusters- accepted the offer and the result was “Mistress of the Game”...the sequel to the bestselling novel “Master of the Game”. And the book became a virtual bestseller.

This time round Bagshawe offers to Sheldon fans worldwide the novel “After the Darkness”. And at the outset itself let me put to rest the various rumors going around- NO, this is not a sequel to either “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” or “Other Side of Midnight”. This is a standalone novel, a novel written in the vein of Sidney Sheldon works. There is of course the warm, beautiful and tenacious heroine- Grace Brookstein. Set in a world of financial wizardry, the courtrooms of New York and the beautiful beaches of Nantucket “After the Darkness” is written and narrated in the familiar style of Sheldon potboilers, in particular “Bloodline” and “If Tomorrow Comes”. Lenny Brookstein and Grace Knowles seemed to have the perfect life. He was billionaire, a financial genius and owner of the financial enterprise Quorum; and she was the demure, beautiful, compassionate and naïve wife. The perfect American couple. But when Lenny dies in a strange boat accident- the whole business world comes crumbling down. Many had invested in Quorum and America begins to blame Grace for the financial malfeasance and for their losses. The darling of America is now the most hated figure in United States. When the chips are down, Grace begins to realize who her true friends are; who her enemies are and the real persons behind the glamour. And she realizes that the dreaded enemies are not far away, but within her family itself. Sentenced to jail for a crime she did not commit, Grace has just one thing in her mind…revenge, revenge and revenge.

What follows is taut, spine tingling suspense, with twists, double twists, triple twists and sometimes quadruple twists galore, this is one novel which Sidney Sheldon fans world over would devour within a one sitting reading spree. Mark my words, you got a winner here.
