Happiness Minutes:
53 Steps Towards Fulfillment

“Happiness Minutes: 53 Steps Towards Fulfillment” is a compilation of transcripts from David Ambrose’s popular “Happiness Minute” audio postcards.  Each one takes about one to two minutes to read and the author suggests reading about one per week in order to obtain the greatest benefit.  He suggests first reading it out loud, and then to listen to he audio of him reading it, which is available to download online.    Although I did not listen to every “Happiness Minute” audio file download, I did listen to three of them and the process was very simple.

After reading the words, he then advises to reflect upon the message given, how it is applicable to you, and to what extent it applies to your life.  On the page opposite each “Happiness Minute” there is a section where you can jot down notes about that week’s advice and some example questions are given to help you better make use of the information presented.

Ambrose also suggests that you read that week’s minute daily and listen to it online often.  Before moving on to the next lesson, he advises you to review the current message and decide if there is anything more that you would like to do to further incorporate that particular lesson into your life.   “There is no reward for finishing quickly, but there is a definite reward for progressing thoroughly.”

One of my favorite parts of the book was in the first “Happiness Minute.”  The assignment was to make a list of all of your blessings, even those that you may take for granted.  The simple act of writing down all of these things and looking at how long the list is will do wonders to increase your level of happiness.  We all have good things in our daily lives, the key is to acknowledge and to recognize them and not to take them for granted.

I think that the information in the book is helpful and I think that if you complete all 53 steps in the book that you will definitely see and feel a marked improvement in your happiness level.  I recommend this book to anyone who wants to live a fuller, more satisfying life.
