Darryl Greerdarryl greer

Darryl Greer was born, educated and spent the first chapter of his working life in Queensland, Australia. His education was cut short – by him, due to the sheer boredom of it – and at the age of 15 he left school to work on a milk run. He went on to work as a window cleaner, cocktail barman, wine waiter, clerk, car salesman and a guitarist/backing singer in a rather hopeless rock band. Eventually though he studied Law, was admitted as a solicitor and at 28 he owned his own law firm in Queensland’s far north.

After 9 years in the Australian tropics, having built his practice into a thriving firm with offices in two centres, he became bored with constant blue skies, gently swaying coconut palms and scuba-diving on the Great Barrier Reef, so he sold up and moved with his family to London where he practiced law for many years, specialising in commercial litigation. In 2004 he returned to Queensland and now lives with his wife in the Gold Coast hinterland, where he practises as a consultant to other lawyers who want to draw on his litigation experience.

Darryl has many published articles to his credit and has written a few songs but the real love of his life – apart from his family – is writing novels, especially thrillers and crime stories.

He also enjoys walking, swimming, travel, theatre, cinema, reading – thrillers of course – and he can still belt out a mean tune on the guitar.

The Election, a political thriller, is the first of Darryl’s novels to be published.
